A Beautiful Bird :D

This is dedicated to the beautiful Marianne Mc Grath for showing an interest in the last two !!!!!!!!!! :D

I'm going to assume you all know who Wallis Bird is but just in case there are any idiots in my audience (no offence), Wallis Bird is an amazing young singer from Enniscorthy (near my house :D) with a penchant for being different and folk music. Bird is in no way new to the music scene, already on her third album, but is a really game changing force in the Irish music industry with enough energy to run a small city off of and the most enchanting stage presence ever (trust me I've seen her live) Wallis is truly someone we should all listen to !!!

... So you'll all go and listen to Wallis now ??? :P
...... No.
... Why ??? :O
..... You haven't given us any reasons to !!!!! >_<
... Oh sorry :/

So why should you go listen to her music ??? Well in my opinion the biggest appeal of Wallis' work is how out there and full of energy it is !!!! She deals with things in such an unusual and interesting way you can not help but be caught up in her world. Her first album Spoons is as good as any debut I've heard. The highlight for me has to be "Blossoms in The Street" thanks to the beautifully sung, beautifully written line
"Silently volatile, you broke me down on trial yeah and asked me if I changed my life. Well, no thanks, not tonight"

I don't know why but that line is just so......... PRETTY !!!!!! :P You can just see the image of a controlling man (or woman) with Wallis taking none of his (or her) crap. We also see beautiful imagery, amazing vocals and orgasmicly good writing on nearly every other track on the album with the other highlights being in my opinion "6 ft 8" and "Bring me Wine".

Her second album "New Boots" is the album I hold closest to my heart. My first taste of Wallis came when I borrowed my friend's copy of New Boots and I've been singing the songs ever since. The first song that really caught my attention was track 2 other wise known as "Travelling Bird". Travelling bird is such a free joyful song (feel free to disagree) that I can not help but be caught up in it and god does it make me wanna sing. This album is so beautiful, joy filled and different that I know every song by heart (this is not a joke, I went to a Wallis gig this year and literally sang every New Boots song at the top of my lungs). My favourite Bird songs (from all 3 albums) "Measuring Cities" (about the end of a relationship) and "When We Kissed the World Fell in Love!" (about the beginning of a relationship) both feature on this album.

Unfortunately, to my shame, I have not yet been able to buy the 3rd album (they weren't allowed sell it to us at the gig cause it was 2 days before the official release) but "Encore" "In Dictum" and "Ghosts Of Memories" are definitely highlights of what I've so far heard.
