"Magic," he said

So it has come to my atention that teenagers don't really read books. This is an OUTRAGE. I love books (I would happily have ones baby) and I don't understand how you can't love them. My theory (and this is just a thepry) is that Computer games, TV and the internet have just made teenagers to lazy to use their IMAGINATION !!!!!

I mean it acctualy requires effort to read, so why would this lazy species called teenagers bother when they could just have all the work done for them by someone in a TV studio.

But reading is so much more personal, you can build on the description the author gives or even comprehend it in a different way to everyone else, you can make a book your own.

Now you may be wondering what the title of today's post has to do with reading, well its is the very last line in the first book of my favourite series, the ever amazing and the oh so odd Skulduggery Pleasent.

Skulduggery pleasent is a book series about a Skeleton Detective and his young apprentice Stephaine Edgley AKA Valkyrie Cain. There life in Dublin (my home city :D) is never easy and they have to fight Vampires (Warning: This is not another book just making money off of the twilight series' success, it was published only a few months after twilight before it became big) Giant spiders, a man who can sink into the ground, a crazy self proclaimed "master killer" who has never killed a person and Ancient gods to name a few.
So why should you read the books,
1. They are Irish
2. They're amazing
3. If you don't fall in love witht the characters there is something wrong with you
4. They are the most witty books EVER written
5. I told you too >:(

So go read them or if  not them something because reading is marvelous, amazing, orgasmic, tantilsing, inteligent, cultured, interesting, entertaining, etc, etc, etc

And if you don't bother to go read them I'll smash a plate over your head and set fire to your bed (Got to love florence and the machine ;P)

To read or not to read

Now in my little part of the world this is a very taboo subject. The twilight series. The twilight series (just in case you have been stuck in the dungeon of a castle some where in eastern europe) is a series of four romantic/fantasy books based on the love triangle between a human, a vampire and a werewolf. So as quoted from facebook "a girls decision between necrophilia and bestiality"

The twilight books and movies are in some peoples worlds loved and adored, making millions of people happy (and making a fair bit of money for Ms. Meyer too) and with other people they are hated and generaly a giant pain in the arse.  I for one am a supporter of the books, but what is it about them that makes normaly calm and sweet people so damn furious ??

I have friends on both sides of no mans land and I have to say its kinda of crazy how normal teenagers become so emotional about theese books. The strong hatred and love for the same thing in one group of friends is quite a fascinating phenomenon. It can lead to many pointless arguments and bitching. But why are the hated ??

I believe the people who hate it do not truly understand what they are hating. I understand their hatred for the franchise (it can be pretty annoying, with its overly good looking leads and chessy lines), but the books ???

I doubt most have even read them. They have seen advertisments for the movies and have judged the books on their public cover. I am not saying the books are perfect (they are acctualy quite flawed with their cliched themes and soppy writing) but what is. I don't mind if you don't like the public image of twilight but please don't make snap decisions on the books. Let their supporters support them without feeling like "oh god, Chris does'nt like them so when he's around neither do I" READ THEM

By the way, please don't bite my head off. Thank you :D
